a. Medicine&Health Services, Search&Rescue and First Aid-Oriented Vocational Sign Language (SL) Curriculum at A1, A2 and B1 Levels
In our country and in the world, there is no medicine and health services-oriented Vocational SL Curriculum. With the project, the curriculum will be developed at A1, A2 and B1 levels. It will be designed with a holistic approach. Vocational SL learning will be built on basic sign language learning. The sequence of the curriculum design will be from basic to vocational sign language; as in the beginning, vocational sign language will be kept in the background, then the emphasis will be on vocational terminology.
b. The Curriculum-Aligned Learning Materials at A1, A2 and B1 Levels
With the curriculum and curriculum-aligned content, health workers, who will learn vocational sign language, will be expected to be ready to communicate and interact with deaf patients in the line of their duties. Hence, health workers will develop their skills to understand the signs, gestures and mimics of deaf patients and to express themselves with sign language. Direct method of learning will be used while preparing the content, so vocational sign language learning will take place naturally and through imitation, just like mother tongue acquisition. Such learning materials are not available in our country and in the world and will be prepared for the first time with the project.
c. Sample Patient Anamnesis Forms in Sign Language
Anamnesis, one of the most crucial components of diagnosis, is the taking of a patient's personal medical history obtained as a result of the questions the physician asks the patient regarding illnesses, complaints and disorders. The Manchester Protocol classifies patients according to their most serious health needs into 5 risk classification. Sample Anamnesis Forms in accordance with the Manchester Protocol will be created in sign language within our project. A similar study is not available in our country or worldwide.
