​Objectives

​   The project objectives we would like to achieve are as follows;

• Fostering the professional development of all health workers working in different units of the health sector in particular to doctors, physicians, nurses, emergency personnel, caregivers and search and rescue teams,
• Contributing to the vocational training of all individuals who receive training to work in the various fields of the health sector,
• Promoting equal healthcare opportunities and access to health services,
• Overcoming barriers to accessing health services for deaf people,
• Qualitatively developing vocational education and training curriculum in a way that promote equality and accessibility and meet the needs of disadvantaged groups,
• Fostering the digital transformation of vocational education,
• Developing approaches that will contribute to multilingualism in different fields of vocational education,
• Contributing to the multilingualism of health workers,
• Producing “Open Educational Resources” (OER), which are free of time and geographic constraints, also free (no charge) and have open  access,
• Strengthening the understanding of the European Union among healthcare workers,
• Producing open access for research and data for linguists and for those who do sign language studies,
• Increasing the number of health workers that deaf people can communicate with during and after disasters such as earthquakes that affect large masses of people,
• Ensuring that people involved in search and rescue operations and emergency situations learn sign language,
• As a result of the increase in the number of physicians who speak sign language, contributing to the “right to choose a physician”, one of the most basic patient rights of deaf people,
• Fostering the correct diagnosis and correct treatment processes of deaf people with “Patient Anamnesis Forms” prepared in sign language,
• Contributing to the deaf individuals to establish correct and healthy communication with health workers regarding the treatment and care of their new-born children, as well as their own health.

 
The earthquake we experienced proved that online sign language dictionaries and digital sign language translation services could not be used during and after the disaster. Accordingly, all health workers, search and rescue and first aid teams should have a basic level of sign language proficiency. The concrete results we would like to produce by our project will be as follows;

• Distance learning platform which is  free (no charge) and has open access,
• Medicine & Health Services, Search & Rescue and First Aid-Oriented Vocational Sign Language Curriculum at A1, A2 and B1 levels, 
• Distance learning materials for the entire sign language curriculum which we will be prepared,
  
• Sample Patient Anamnesis Forms prepared in sign language in accordance with the Manchester Protocol.
